Omg I know right? I first remember hearing it in a bowling alley when I was about 8/9 years old. I forgot about it for ages and then the melody sprung up in my mind but I didn't know it's name because it's in Romanian so I just searched "numa numa" on YouTube and it showed up. It's cheesy as Hell but I love it to bits.

Mayfair - Millie Small. I love this, no I'm not [i]that[i] old! I love ska and reggae and I found this gem about a year ago, now I love Millie's music. Mayfair also appeals to me because something happened there I'll never forget. Millie's still around, bless her heart. I think the song refers to the magazine of that name though.....

I remember hearing this tune one day after I'd heard it a thousand times. I was feeling particularly dysphoric that day and my mind was zinging down the rabbit hole that ate so much of my time at that juncture in my life. The song spoke to me directly and in particular my relationship with my transsexuality. Anyway, The lyrics really spoke to me and I've never been able to listen to the song after that without seeing it as an anthem of sorts.

"Bargain" by ......The Who

I'd gladly lose me to find you
I'd gladly give up all I had
To find you I'd suffer anything and be glad
I'd pay any price just to get you
I'd work all my life and I will
To win you I'd stand naked, stoned and stabbed
I'd call that a bargain
The best I ever had
The best I ever had
I'd gladly lose me to find you
I'd gladly give up all I got
To catch you I'm gonna run and never stop
I'd pay any price just to win you
Surrender my good life for bad
To find you I'm gonna drown an unsung man
I'd call that a bargain
The best I ever had
The best I ever had
I sit looking 'round
I look at my face in the mirror
I know I'm worth nothing without you
And like one and one don't make two
One and one make one

When Haley and I were driving to therapy after I came out to my mom, the song, "It's the end of the world as we know it" was playing (unsure as to the true title of the song, but I'm sure you know it).

We laughed about it, taking it as a joke from the universe. (The universe and I get each other).

It's stuck in my head.
Do not place me by a star where only it's light can encompass me, instead place me in the darkness. There I can behold the lights of all the stars in the universe.

This particular song is my current favorite as it reflects a lot of my current mental state. You also might notice I have a quote from it as my signature.
Ruby was only a temporary name while I sorted things out, I am now Willow.

If you knew everything they thought
I bet that you would wish that they'd just shut up"

I grew up, and I am still living in The Bay Area.

I am also watching the very excellent series by Ken Burns, 'The Vietnam War'. Burns inserted the music of the day into his video and being in The Bay Area, I watched much of this music being played at The Fillmore and The Winterland, almost on a weekly basis.

So, my song of the day will be any protest song from the late '60s or early '70s. For the most part, their messages are as valid today as they were then.

To have Carlos Santa fingering a guitar rift from the stage of The Winterland, or Muddy Waters or Cream from the small stage at The Fillmore, will always drown out any of today's music.
When writing the next chapter in your life, start with a pencil and eraser - my first page as Miki is full of eraser marks. Doodling is allowed. I have started a new chapter but will still use a pencil.

I haven't been able to watch it without having to walk away. Too close I suppose. I have watched every other thing he's ever done with rapt attention. When I try with this chronicle, it drives me to the depths of despair. Remembering the foulness of Westmoreland, Johnson, Nixon and all the horrific events of the 60's coupled with the degradation of our Governing bodies today triggers every trigger I have. So unfortunately, I haven't been up to engaging. Perhaps another time Then again, perhaps not. So for every brave soul that fought an unwinnable war for a lost cause in a shit situation .....and in honor of our favorite daughter Miki, who did her honorable duty under all those adverse conditions.......................

I'm old enough that I can claim the dubious distinction of watching her show in its first run. I just loved her. Hell, I wanted to be her. She was a young girls fantasy that was stuck in a young boys body and allowed me the opportunity to fantasize. Even if it was only a half hour a week. I never missed her show.
She had spunk!...lol She'll be one of my heroes forever.
