Winter Olympics!

Postby CeliaEriksson » Sat Feb 10, 2018 9:24 am

Hi Everyone!

I'm between night shifts and watching as much as I can! I've six days off after tonight's shift and will be watching lots and lots! I missed the women's 7.5 Cross Country/Skiathon and the 7.5 Biathlon where Norway has silvers. The men's normal hill ski jumping is being shown in a minute, so bye for a while!!! Celia xx

PS I'll bet Ponytails is looking forward to the Figure Skating!

So 1,2,3 in the 15k.... rubs tongue around cheek! The men's biathlon sprint was disappointing though! Is nobody else watching this televisual fantastical frosty feast????

And poor young Marcus Kleveland, just 18, a sure medal winner of the future in the slopestyle boarding and well done Andrew Musgrave, 7th was very good too in the 15k!

I'm enjoying watching the games on and off when I have time (mostly by stream on tablet/phone). Some very fun events and my favorite(s) so far have been women's hockey and the North Korean cheerleading team (aka "Army Of Beauties", officially). They're a whole event unto themselves.

I was reading about the Olympics and found this sidebar which mentions a lot of people are visiting the so-called 'Penis Park' near the Olympic site.

Pretty interesting stuff! And no, it's not a pornographic type thing; it's actually a cultural site and there's a whole legend behind it (as explained in the article). Either way though, it is a big outdoor park filled with giant stone penises. Go figure. The world is such a strange and interesting place.

I was going to comment about how I'm trying to watch the Games whenever possible, how much I've enjoyed what I have seen so far, and then...

Hi!

Of course that is interesting.... mmmm, very interesting....but let's stick to the sport, I mean let's concentrate with the job in hand, Erm, sorry, I say let's get our talking gear stuck around the games, oh, apologies, what I'm trying to say is let's grasp the beautiful sporting opportunities before us.... Waaah!

Anyway.... a bad day for us. Those pesky Germans must be toppled off the top of that table, even if it has to be you Americans that do it!

I wonder who they used for the mold.

One of our (U.S.) Olympians, Adam Rippon reported he was disappointed in the quality of the condoms that the IOC issued. I wonder if he tried to put one on a particular phallus symbol.

Gold, gold, gold! I guess we must knock the pesky Germans from the top of the table!

Ragnhild Haga! Cross Country skiing Goddess!

Johannes Boe, 20k Biathlon, should have won others, but came good in the 20k!!!!

Aksel Svindal.... ok, men's Alpine downhill

What a great day, but I was out shopping today and only got to see the Cross Country highlights.... I will look up Boe's Biathlon win tomorrow!

Well, nothing today, the Men's 15k Cross Country was a huge disappointment.... but well done Dario and Switzerland. The Super-G was also a booboo... just a bronze for Kjetil Jansrud, more was expected

And good old Swede Frida Hansdotter pulls out a great run in the Alpine Slalom, so well done Frida!

I'm in Canada, so GO CANUCKS! :)

Watching the Olympics is such a roller coaster! Some of those heartbreaking moments (for any athlete) are so hard to watch. Years of their life and dedication and training... gah! And then the wins!! :o

Men's 4 x 10k and the slopestyle for Oystein Braaten.... top with gold count and total. It just get's better! These are the bestest Olympics I have watched for years. I really should do more stuff these couple of weeks, I'm behind with everything watching it!!!!! I did enjoy the speed skating too, I don't normally go for it, but Japan's Nao Kodaira winning was exciting, exciting, exciting and yes.... ok, I'm a dopey cow, I know, but  I blubbed for her.
