Boots

Postby Danette Celeste » Tue Jan 16, 2018 4:25 pm

One of the great liberations I've realized since I came to my gender senses was the incredible freedom of self expression that opened to me, especially in the area of cloths, shoes and accessories. After so many years existing in a very narrow definition of acceptable attire - jeans, khakis, polo shirts, teeshirts, it was exhilarating to finally be able to wear a greater range of colors, types/styles and shoes. I love shoes, especially heels and boots of all types.

On Saturday, I ordered these, whether or not I have the brass to wear them out is yet to be determined :o :

I love boots, mostly riding boots, but I would never have the brass to wear over the knee boots with 4-5" heels. I do want the leather pants though, and would definitely wear those.

I challenge you to a picture of you wearing them within two weeks of their receipt. :P

Challenge accepted providing the sizing is correct. I wear US woman’s 11. These were available only in 10 1/2 or 11 1/2. The seller says they are a half size large, so I ordered the 10 1/2 figuring they may be a bit tight where an 11 1/2 would be overly large. It’s a crap shoot.

I have seen ones wearing this kind of over-the-knee boot, but they have, for the most part, been twentysomethings, or college age girls. However, I do wish you the best, Liz, for that style that makes you happy. For comparison, I love wearing over-the-knee knee-hi cable-knit stockings, with a short skirt or a mini-skirt, but then again, that is something that I have only seen on twentysomethings, not a woman of my age.

Yeah, 20 something’s are the usual context. I’m not buying it, I’ve waited far too long and endured narrow definitions of what’s age and gender appropriate to not exercise agency over how I define myself.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not likely to find myself at a club in an LBD and these boots. I just believe the variety of opportunities is much greater than that. We shall see!

BTW, I love above the knee socks, have several pair myself.

Over the holiday season here I have all age groups using thigh high boots, main difference is the younger were with less additional clothing such as coats when it was snowing etc. It was the party session, don't see them much on the daily commute, lots of knee high though.

You can definitely pull this off nicely, Liz. :thumb:

Interestingly enough, I've mostly seen older women wear knee highs.

Boots aren't really my thing, but then again, I'm still trying to develop a style. I'm pretty much a blank slate at the moment.

Good for you Liz !!! Just do it !!!
As for me, I have worn, and will continue to wear, at select times and occasions ( anime convention, pride events, etc ), a cute top, like a maternity top, a short skirt, and above-the-knee knee-hi's, regardless of what others think, say, or do. This because of what you stated above.

Hi Liz!

Wow, you have a lot of courage to wear those! I like ankle boots best but do wear longer boots, I have some pics of me in about as high I would wear. They are quite flat heeled, but I do like these.... oh and the Celtic scarf was just me winding up a St. Mirren supporter!

Hey Celia,

I'm still deliberating myself about the situations for which I would wear these out. It's new territory for me to be certain.

Are those you are showing suede or fabric? I have a pair of fabric OTK boots that I wear out and about all the time and love them.

Hi Liz!

Those are suede, I have a pair of leather and some brown semsket too about this length, I know that men love the thigh lenghth, but I have never had the nerve to buy thigh highs, coz I know I will never have the courage to wear them! Though when and if and when I find my next baeu I might just kinda consider those super sexy type ones you have for the bedroom,. maybe, perhapsical, pending, possiblical .... :, I guess that's you know, kinda thing, ahem, why you got 'em, let's face it they are cool for passion with someone special? (...cheeky little tongue in cheek moment.....)... No noseyness or hurtfullyness meant or intended Liz, Celia xx

For me, as always, it's not relevant if I would wear something if I can't get my foot in them :)

Protip for breaking shoes in:

Jam them on with thick socks and heat them with a blow dryer every half hour for a few hours in your house.

Thanks Bea,

Since I work from home I've always worn new shoes, especially with heels around the house. Didn't know about warming them up though, thanks!

Liz (where is Celia when you need her)

I just read where Queen Elizabeth has wide toes and has a particular person in her household break in her shoes before she can wear them.

I'm wearing them over skinny jeans and they look great. At the moment, I don't look so great. It's one of those days where work got ahead of my daily routine and I barely had time to throw on a hoodie top that doesn't complement (actually, it clashes horribly). So pictures will need to hold till tomorrow. I have an idea for a great outfit! The uppers are longer than I expected - they come nearly to the crease between the top of my leg and butt.

These certainly won't be everyday, everywhere attire and since I don't make it out of my house nearly at all during the week, my going out opportunities are generally either evening or on the weekends. I don't expect I'll have a lot of hesitancy about wearing them out and about.

Today I wore the boots all day while working. After work I went out and got my hair cut, grocery shopped and met my wife for dinner at a bar and grill. No discernible reactions, no open mouth gawking, no pointing and whispering.

So, with almost 12 hours of continuous wear, my feet are only now beginning to feel the effects - mostly my toes.

In response to Mikki's challenge to provide pictures within two weeks, I give you:

Those boots look great on you. I checked out the designers site as I was unfamiliar with the brand and was very impressed with her whole line. From the pictures they look to be very well made and made of top quality leather but I would like to hear what you think. I am always on the look out for both great boots and quality leather.

The leather is flawless and the seams are straight, smooth and tight. The finish of the leather is smooth (as opposed to pebble or other finish). The tops are very high. I’m 5’8” and of average proportions of trunk length vs leg length. The tops pretty much hit right at the junction of my legs and butt. For me, these are more crotch high than thigh high. If I were to wear with a skirt and leave the obligatory 3 - 4 inches of leg showing between the top of the boots and bottom of the skirt, the skirt would be little more than a belt. Not gonna happen for this girl.

Their sizing is a bit odd. This style, which the call 2.0, the available sizes are on the US women’s half sizes only. I wear a size 11 in most shoes; some brands it may be a 10 1/2, others size 12. I texted Kristina about this. She said they run about a half size large - her usual size is 8, the 7 1/2 fit her fine. So, I ordered the 10 1/2. While they were bit tight initially, they have broken in nicely and feel like they hug my feet. I may have a shoe repair shop try and stretch the toe box a bit. I am certain the 11 1/2 would have been much too large and permitted my foot to move around way too much and cause blisters. I wore them for 12 hours each of the past 3 days and it was only at the end of day 3 that my feet started to feel tired, no blisters, no crunched toenails.

The kicker is that they have a no return policy, so if they don’t fit, you’d have to resell them yourself to recover your investment. I understand they are a small business, but from a customer care perspective, it’s not a good customer care practice. Especially if your product has uncommon sizing.

All in all, it worked out fine for me, I love the boot, the fit is good and they look great if I do say so myself!
